This material introduces the relationship between different polygons. It is based on the art piece, 14 Variations on a Theme, by the Swiss designer, Max Bill.
It consists of polygons from a triangle to an octagon, each of which share the same length in sides. The child lines up the sides in order to make a spiral. In doing so, the child builds an appreciation for the types of polygons that exist and the relationship among side length, number of sides, and area.
