Margaret Elizabeth Stephenson Fund

Since 2000, the MES Fund has awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to over 325 AMI teacher trainees.  Applications are accepted January 1st – May 1st each year.

AMS offers scholarships to individuals enrolled in AMS-affiliated teacher education programs. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, dedication to Montessori education, and professional promise. Applications are accepted between February and April.

Selected applicants who identify as Black will receive $2,000, which will be sent directly to the training programs to support teachers with the cost of training. Money can be used toward fees, books, and materials, as well as housing and transportation to attend the in-person part of the courses.  Scholarship applications will open in Oct 2025.

Tuition is $14,500, and anyone who identifies as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color receives a $5,000 scholarship.  They recommend, even if you have doubts or questions, that you just apply. They are more than happy to talk with you directly about questions and thoughts. It is a hybrid program with in-person training this summer and next.

Wildflower received the federal CSP grant to open more Wildflower charter schools.  If you design a Wildflower charter school that meets the criteria for serving diverse populations and is located in a high-needs area, you may qualify for this grant.  The grant funds can be used to reimburse you for Montessori training.  Important note:  Unfortunately, we can only reimburse training costs incurred after the charter is approved.
